Sellerdeck Payments powered by NMI Security upgrade

17th September 2021

From 4th October 2021 Sellerdeck Payments powered by NMI will enforce a security upgrade.

Note: NMI have extended the deadline to 6th December 2021

If you are not on the latest version of Sellerdeck Desktop (v16.1.1, v18.1.1 or higher) you must take action now to ensure you can continue to receive card payments. Without taking action you will not be able to receive card payments.

This upgrade has already been applied to v16.1.1 & v18.1.1 and all subsequent versions – meaning if you are on these versions there is no action required.

NOTE: Sellerdeck Payments powered by Opayo is not affected and there is no action if you use this payment gateway.

What is the security upgrade?

Sellerdeck Payments powered by NMI will be upgrading to Hash Code 2.0. A hash code is a security feature that enables validation of the transaction data received by the payments integration post-transaction. This enables mitigation of man-in-the-middle attacks.

Hash Code version 2.0 provides a greater level of security than version 1.0. Further technical information is available in this NMI support article

To continue receiving card payments using Sellerdeck Payments powered by NMI after 4th October 2021 you must take one of the following four actions:

1. (Recommended) Upgrade to v16.1.2 or v18.1.2 and register for Sellerdeck Payments powered by Opayo.

This provides up to date security and fraud screening for all your transactions.

  • Contact your Sellerdeck account manager on 01932 358 350 to upgrade to Sellerdeck Payments powered by Opayo
  • Once activated, add ‘Sellerdeck Payments by Opayo’ as a payment method in Business Settings and disable ‘Sellerdeck Payments Ecommerce’ and ‘Sellerdeck Payments CNP/MOTO’.

2. Or Upgrade to V16.1.2 or V18.1.2 and continue using Sellerdeck Payments powered by NMI. This provides up to date security for all your transactions.

3. Or Update Sellerdeck Desktop in your current version.

This provides up to date security for your online transactions, however payments for offline orders will not be supported and must be processed via the online virtual terminal (known as ‘webMIS’). The Commit, Void and Refund buttons will continue to function for online orders.

  • Follow the instructions in the email you received from marketing@sellerdeck.com titled “Sellerdeck Payments Security Upgrade – Urgent action required”, which would have been sent either 17th or 20th September 2021.
  • If you cannot find the email, you need to check the version you are using and click the appropriate version below.  To check your version open Sellerdeck Desktop and go to ‘Help’ | ‘About Business’ and look at the ‘Version’.
